Starting your meals with a bowl of salad can help if you are on a weight loss journey. The high fiber content makes you feel full faster and helps reduce the amount of food you will eat subsequently. Salads can also help prevent constipation.
When adding dressings to salad, read the label to know how much calories it contains to prevent adding too much calories. A salad with a large amount of high-fat dressing or oil will be high in calories and less likely to help you lose weight.
Lean proteins like turkey, chicken, crab meat or fish can add delicious flavor to a salad without a lot of fat. You can make your salad a meal by adding lean protein.
